Go to the Travel Channel's Treasure Wiki Arizona Page about collecting petrified wood here. Unfortunately the link is broken. Here is what it said: "General description: A large area around Woodruff, Arizona gives a collector ample opportunity to find nice pieces of brightly colored wood. Helpful notes to newcomers: Look for a what looks like a small piece pocking up from the dirt. It might be just the tip of a much larger piece. Handy to bring along: 1. Hammer 2.Collecting bag or bucket 3. Hand pick"Turn south at Woodruff on the Silver Creek Road. Search either side to the road for several miles. This site was mentioned in Gerry Blair's book "Rockhounding Arizona." It was probably put in the travel channel treasure wiki by Bill Reynolds.
