For details go to the Travel Channel's treasure wiki page for Ohio. Here is what it says: "General description: Flint Ridge is a nearly eight-mile long vein of high-quality flint located in Licking and Muskingum counties of eastern Ohio. Hundreds of quarry pits and workshop sites are scattered across more than 2,000 acres of ridge top in these Appalachian foothills. It has been called the "Great Indian Quarry of Ohio." Flint Ridge flint is particularly distinctive for its bright coloration. The flint can be napped into Native American artifacts or can be made into attractive cabochons. http://www.ohiohistorycentral.org/entry.php?rec=2217

The best in the nation for Native American Historical Mining operations. This material was as important to the tribes as iron and steel is today.

Handy to bring along: 1.Bucket 2.Rock hammer 3.Safety glasses 4. Gloves

Helpful notes to newcomers: Visit the Flint Ridge State Park and Museum: http://ohsweb.ohiohistory.org/places/c01/index.shtml

Collecting is not allowed in the state park but there is plenty of collecting material in the area. The flint is found in Pennsylvanian Age limestone as nodules are as massive beds. The streams in the area and cuts reveal the flint.
