I finally got out to this location, even though I have not had luck usually with the source's information. I searched around Eagle Bluff for probably 40 minutes. I finally found some marcasite in shale and it was worth it! I also found a radiating crystal pattern in another rock. The information that I was searching from was from this website's collecting locations for Cherokee County. All that it said was: "Eagle Bluff, in black shale: marcasite (crystals) (Zeitner 1972). "
Precautions

The hills is steep, so be very careful with your footing. There were weeds when I was there, and probably snakes nearby. I saw a wasps nest too. Wear gloves for handling shale and a rock hammer or small hand tools may help uncover marcasite. It's easiest after a rain, though and stuff is on the surface. It may have been hard to collect if someone else covered the surface before me.
Just south of the Eagle Bluff resort (off of highway 10) at the Illinois River near Ellerville. My gps placemark shows the exact location.
