"Garnet, staurolite, kyanite, diopside — Several interesting outcrops in the Gassetts road cut. South of the river, a muscovite schist contains quartz, garnet, tourmaline, staurolite and kyanite crystals. This was once mined for the garnet. A smaller outcrop northwest of the bridge across the river contains actinolite, diopside, calcite, sphene and pyrite." - This information was found on Nuggetfever.com as well as a very concise list of collecting locations in Vermont.
