More details can be found on the Rockhounding in Arkansas website. I really got the information by looking at a map to see where a road intersected cove creek and from reading a blog about finding pyrite near the old Mo-Ti prospect. There is plenty of pyrite if you dig in the creek. Here is a quote from the RockhoundingAR.com website: "Digging in the creek and along the high bank on the south side of the creek has been a popular pass time for many a rockhound. Aside from just pyrite, one can find small black smoky quartz crystals, brilliant lustered brookite crystals, orthoclase feldspar, greasy gray films of molybdenite, and even an occasional specimen of iridescent pyrite." You should read more about Magnet Cove from that link. The pyrite found there in the creek was surprisingly had sharp edges still. There is some sort of protection happening in that creek.
More details can be found on the Rockhounding in Arkansas website. It says: "Pyrite occurs in Cove Creek approximately 0.2 of a mile east of the iron bridge (paved crossroad north from Highway 51, west of Magnet Cove cemetery)." The exact directions are to turn off of highway 51 and go east on Gourdneck Valley Road until you cross the bridge and go to the right. Other sources say just park after the bridge on the right. You can dig downstream and still find pyrite.
