I hear that you can find a good fill of geodes at Palo Duro Canyon which is southeast 27 miles of Amarillo, Texas.  One source is from http://hubpages.com/hub/Must-see-state-parks-in-Texas.  You should ask a ranger of an information office there to find out where to get them.  Some minerals associated in the geodes are quartz, dolomite, aragonite, calcite, celestine, and gypsum.Go south from Amarillo on I-27 and turn off near Canyon, TX, and go east towards the Palo Duro Canyon State Park.  They have a map on their website: http://www.palodurocanyon.com/contact.php
