Bright and rich Sphalerite out of a old collection from Bisbee, Arizona 01
This specimen is not for sale, and was archived from an external source for the purpose of preserving and sharing its geologic, geographic, and collector value.
Description:  eBay

Sphalerite

Bright fluorescent yellow Sphalerite under Longwave ultraviolet (LW/UV) photos 1-3. Shortwave Ultraviolet (SW/UV) photos are numbers 4 - 5 and the last two are under natural white light. Specimen is from the Greg Anderson Fluorescent collection. I acquired this specimen when I purchased a large portion of Gregs collection many years prior to his passing. This specimen is from Bisbee, Arizona.  You must use a good quality LW-SW/UV lamp to see the color.

This is a large cabinet size specimen from the Greg Anderson fluorescent collection.

Compare natural light photo of specimen on a US one dollar bill for scale.
Specimen BBS01 is 3.40"x 2.40"x 1.85" and weighs 8.2 ounces.
Look for me at the Tucson Gem and Mineral Society Show (TGMS) February 11th -14th 2021 for the "Show that Glows" in the Convention Center at my regular space 1701-1703. I will be in the big black tent. This is the same spot used by Greg Anderson ( Anderson Fluorescent Minerals) an old friend for over 20 years and a fluorescent mineral mentor to me. I''ll have more of the Anderson Collection available for sale.

See you there!

I will also be at the MGSCV Gem and Mineral show (West Coast Glow) in March 2021

at the Newark Pavilion

in Newark, California. Look for me in the Fluorescent Hall.

GF has stolen 2 thousand pounds of fluorescent rock from me and I advise fluorescent rock collectors to avoid him in Tucson. He has been quick to disparage me so for more details and a dose of reality contact me directly.

NOTES ON ULTRAVIOLET:

The higher quality the Ultraviolet (UV) source, the better fluorescent minerals look. Critical factors include; filtration (Hoya glass vs Plastic filter or lens), lamp wattage, bulb composition, lamp construction, wave length and distance of lamp to specimen. For best results with any UV source, observe against a black, non-fluorescent, non-reflective background, in complete darkness with eyes adapted. To dark adapt your eye''s, you must be in complete darkness for approximately seven (7) minutes. The photos here were taken using a WAY-TOO-COOL Shortwave (SW), Midwave (MW) or Longwave (LW) lamps, metered and exposed to show fluorescent response to its best advantage. I will indicate which wavelength is appropriate for the particular specimen being offered at auction and wavelength (SW/MW/LW) used as well as the wattage of UV lamp used for photography. I use a 9 watt WAY-TOO-COOL lamp to illuminate most specimens.

PLEASE READ

Please pay within four (4) days unless other arrangements have been made. Due to recent changes at Ebay, it is now necessary for me to ship purchases within one business day of receiving payment. I will often ship the same day if payment is made sufficiently early. Please, if you want to combine shipping with subsequent purchases, do not pay until I invoice you with the correct discounted combined shipping. Just let me know when you are ready for the invoice. If you pay, I have no choice but to ship. I will hold an "open box" for up to 14 days allowing you the opportunity to add items to one box and thereby minimizing shipping charges. But only if you contact me first.

International shipping is not cheap and PayPal adds to the problem by charging a higher percentage for international transactions. Ebay also charges a commission on the shipping paid for both international and domestic purchases. I charge you what it costs me - I do not profit from shipping. Once I mail or ship a package, the time in route or ANY damage to specimen(s) is out of my control. I do pack all specimens using the latest techniques and care. If you are not happy with an item, please contact me first before leaving feedback or opening a case. I will make it right.
