Wavelite is a beautiful lime green drusy formation. It has tiny drusy spheres which has a soft sparkle when held in the light. (Some spheres may be flat and look like tiny lime slices) These little beauties are made up of hundreds of tiny octagonal flat crystals. A very nice piece to have in your collection. Arkansas wavellite is becoming rare from the information I have gathered from miners here in Arkansas. There is only one working mine here. The most rare forms are full spheres (not the lime slices) and even more rare is the darker green forms. Other forms of this unique mineral is found in other parts of the world but Arkansas is the only place you can find the green. It was named in 1805 for William Wavell (d. 1829), a physician in Harwood Parish, Devonshire, England, who discovered the mineral. This description is for wavellite in general. For more info please feel free to email me. Please super size photos for details.
