Stilbite
Christmas Mine, Gila Co., Arizona

An excellent small cabinet sized specimen of Stilbite from the Christmas Mine, Gila Co., Arizona. This specimen features radiating sprays of salmon colored stilbite crystals richly coating the display surface. There are also a couple of sprays visible on the backside of the specimen which I've pictured in the close up photo. While many rare species are known in their finest forms from Christmas, I can't ever remember seeing Stilbites from this productive locality in the past. A great piece for the collector of Arizona minerals or zeolites.
The Christmas Mine is among the most interesting localities in Arizona. It has produced a wide array of beautifully colored, well crystallized rare species often occuring together on specimens. Four new species have been found at Christmas, and I have little doubt that more await discovery.
