Details: This is a quartz mine where you can search through mine tailings for $10/person. You can also find quartz with adularia and calcite on it. They give you directions to get there from the rock shop. For much better information, go to their website.

Here are the directions to the rock shop: "We are located 16 miles North of Hot Springs, Arkansas on Highway 7 North. Coming from Hot Springs you will come through a signal light at Hot Springs Village. From there, in 1 mile you will see Coleman's Rock Shop on the left hand side of the highway. "

Lord-willing, I'll be arriving there around 10:30am, and I hope it rains a little tonight to expose some crystals. They will try to bring out new material around 9am if it is not too wet. They may have done that today too.

I will be returning to this mine tomorrow (saturday 11/16). Come and say you're with "NWA Gem and Mineral Club" and you may get a small discount. Go ahead and meet directly at the mine and you can pay the guy there. Directions going south on Highway 7 from I-40: going South on highway 7 through Jessieville turn right on 298, go 8 miles take left, go 1 mile take right, go 1 mile take left, go 1 mile take right, go 1/2 mile take left - or follow the signs from highway 298
