oh yeah, because its a national forest, no digging or hammering allowed... according to the ouchita forest website you can hand carry one piece weighing no more than 25 pounds for personal possession.

k. heres how to get there. i suggest a 4 wheel drive or something similar... go to avant (only one way in) and turn around at buckville groc. drive back 1.7 miles and youll see a fire road to the right. (theres a dirt patch you can park at just up on the left). take the fire road and turn left at the y. drive up a very steep dirt road and you'll continue to an opening on the top side note... you can easily make one of two side trips when you get done... (1) youre only 15 miles from colman miller mt. mine, or (2) if you keep going past avant, it leads to lake ouchita and a free campsite |
