Details: Magnet Cove is a mineral-rich district in Hot Springs County just north of Magnet Cove, AR. All of the land is on private property and is not open to public inquiry, however the right-of-way area under the Hwy 51 bridge at Cove Creek is public contains some dumps of mined material from old mining operations. Minerals found are various while carbonatite and syenite pegmatite are the predominate minerals here. Panning creek sediment and searching can yield many minerals.
Directions: It is near the intersection of Hwy 270 and Hwy 51. From the town of Magnet Cove, go north on 51 until you get to the bridge over magnet cove creek (near cove creek Rd.)

I think my last comment is misleading. I think that land is private party although it seems like a county road.

Most of the tiny minerals I screened were dug up from the small creek just east of the bridge. Basically there is an old wooden bridge just east of the Cove Creek bridge where I got down and dug. You'll see a lot of biotite shining in the sunlight looking into the creek.
