Details: On page 100 in the Gem Minerals of Idaho book by John Beckwith, it says a few miles northwest of McCall, Idaho in the Rocky Flat area you can find placer deposits of quartz crystals, spinel, and broken corundum in the creek.
Directions: Here are the directions on findarock.com: "4.4 miles North West of McCall on Highway 55 take the road to Brundage Ski Area about 1/2 mile." The GPS coordinates are marked as approximate because I didn't know where to follow the 1/2 mile part to the Brundage Ski Area.
